Privacy policy

Storefinch is a data service: it answers searches over a database of US businesses built from Overture Maps open data. This page explains what we store about you, the person using it. Questions or deletion requests: support@storefinch.com.
What we store
- Your email address, when you sign up. It's tied to your API key.
- A hash of your API key and of any sign-in tokens issued to apps you connect. We never store the key or tokens themselves, so we can't show them again.
- Usage records: which tool ran, when, how many calls and export rows it used, how long it took, and any error message. We use these to enforce plan limits and fix problems. We don't store the text of your searches or the results we send you.
- Your IP address at signup, to limit abuse (a few signups per network per day). The no-key demo search keeps IP addresses in memory only, for its hourly limit.
- Apps you connect through sign-in (for example Claude): the name the app gives and its return address.
- Billing: if you upgrade, Stripe processes the payment as merchant of record. We receive your Stripe customer and subscription IDs and payment status, never your card details.
- Exports: a record of each export you make (its filters, row count and time), so you can
download it again from
list_exports. The exported rows themselves aren't stored per export. - Business websites: when you ask, our bot (StorefinchBot) checks whether a business's website responds and reads its homepage and up to two contact pages. We keep what it finds (whether the site is up, plus emails, opening hours and social links the business publishes) for 30 days and reuse it for other users. This is information businesses publish about themselves, not about you.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or share your information, or use it for advertising.
- We don't use your searches or data to train AI models.
- We don't set tracking cookies or use analytics scripts on this site.
Who processes it
- Fly.io hosts the service and its database (United States).
- Stripe handles payments, receipts and tax.
- Cloudflare provides DNS and forwards email sent to our support address.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information while your account exists. To delete your account and the data tied to it, email support@storefinch.com from the address you signed up with. Stripe keeps payment records as the law requires.
